LAVATEC LT 35–100 kg Tunnel Washing System
The LAVATEC LT 35–100 kg Tunnel Washing System belongs to the LAVA Trac Washing System and is a continuous tunnel washing system developed for industrial laundries requiring high-volume textile processing and consistent washing operations.
LAVATEC offers the system in different filling capacities and configurations. Depending on project requirements, the washing line can be configured from 5 to 20 chambers, with filling capacities of 35 kg, 50 kg, 60 kg, 70 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg and 130 kg.
Double-Drum Design for Continuous Washing
A key feature of the LAVATEC LT system is its double-drum design in the corresponding tunnel sections. LAVATEC uses a dedicated sealing system between chambers to prevent liquor mixing during operation.
The outer seal of the rotating double-drum segment uses the proven LAVATEC clamping ring seal. The heat- and chemical-resistant sealing system is designed to keep water and washing liquor contained within the appropriate areas, while the chamber seal developed by LAVATEC in the double-drum area prevents liquor mixing between chambers.
Chamber Configuration and Detergent Connections
Each chamber in the double-drum area is equipped with three detergent connections as standard, with the option to extend the configuration to six connections.
Measuring probes can also be installed in the double-drum areas. The system is designed so that the probes can be removed for inspection or maintenance without requiring the washing liquor or water to be drained from the chamber. Steam heaters and drains can also be added to individual double-drum chambers according to the system configuration.
Individually Planned Washing Systems
LAVATEC plans each tunnel washer individually and in close consultation with the customer and their detergent technician or chemist. This approach allows the system technology, washing process and chemistry to be coordinated according to the specific requirements of each laundry operation.
The configuration can therefore be developed around the required throughput, washing process, resource efficiency and operational requirements rather than applying one fixed system configuration to every laundry.
Bottom Transfer and Center Transfer
Bottom Transfer
With the Bottom Transfer configuration, laundry is removed directly from the bottom of the drum, helping to accelerate the transfer process between washing zones.
According to LAVATEC, the design can support shorter pause times between zones and more efficient water recirculation based on the counterflow principle. The system can also reduce fresh water and energy consumption through effective rinsing and controlled water flow.
Because the laundry is transferred without falling over hoppers or flaps, the movement can be more even and gentle. Complete emptying of each chamber through the floor also helps minimize standing water and cross-contamination, while making the system easier to clean.
LAVATEC identifies Bottom Transfer as suitable for processes requiring HACCP or RABC compliance, such as applications in healthcare and the food industry, depending on the overall system configuration and operating process.
Center Transfer
The Center Transfer configuration provides greater mechanical processing through the falling movement of the laundry during transfer. It also offers flexibility when handling different fill levels, which can be useful for laundries processing changing batch sizes.
Design for Operation and Maintenance
LAVATEC double-drum tunnel washers are equipped with a manhole in each drum as standard. This provides direct access to the drum interior for inspection, maintenance and cleaning work.
The washing tube is rotated by four individually driven friction wheel sets using a rubber compound specially developed by LAVATEC for power transmission with minimized wear. Two rollers running against the drum-ring flanks limit axial drum movement, while safety sensors monitor the axial movement during operation.
Applications of the LAVATEC Tunnel Washing System
The LAVATEC LT system is designed for industrial laundries requiring high-volume textile processing and continuous washing operations. Depending on the project configuration, the tunnel washing system can be integrated with other textile processing equipment, including dewatering, drying, finishing and laundry handling systems.
The appropriate number of chambers, filling capacity, transfer configuration, detergent connections and additional options should be determined according to the required throughput, textile types, washing process, available space and operational requirements.
LAVATEC Tunnel Washing Systems at PAN
PAN provides consultation for LAVATEC tunnel washing systems based on the actual requirements of each industrial laundry. PAN can work with businesses to review throughput, textile types, washing processes, available space and operational requirements before proposing a suitable system configuration.
