Fagor SPE600-2600 Compact Flatwork Ironer
The Fagor SPE600-2600 belongs to the Compact Flatwork Ironers range, developed to integrate several flat linen finishing processes into a single compact machine. Within Fagor's Compact range, the SPE600-2600 is part of the Phoenix Ø600 configuration, the most comprehensive configuration, combining drying, ironing, longitudinal folding, cross folding and optional side stacking.
The value of the SPE600-2600 therefore goes beyond its 600 mm roll diameter or 75–105 kg/h theoretical production. The Phoenix configuration brings several finishing processes together in one workflow, reducing manual handling and the need to transfer linen between separate machines.
What are Compact Flatwork Ironers?
Compact Flatwork Ironers are industrial machines for flat linen designed around a compact footprint while integrating drying, ironing and, depending on the configuration, folding and stacking functions. Fagor developed this range for laundries that need to process significant quantities of flat linen while making efficient use of available floor space.
Fagor offers three main configurations within the Compact Flatwork Ironers range:
- Phoenix: drying, ironing, longitudinal folding, cross folding and optional stacking.
- Poseidon: drying, ironing and up to two longitudinal folds.
- Polaris: drying and ironing without folding.
This makes the SPE600-2600 a Phoenix solution for businesses that require a higher level of automation in the flat linen finishing process.
Phoenix SPE600-2600 – a complete drying, ironing and folding solution
Fagor identifies the SPE models as the most complete models in the Compact Flatwork Ironers range. The SPE600-2600 can dry, iron and fully fold flat linen longitudinally and transversally, using one or two working lanes.
One lane is intended for larger items such as bedsheets, while two lanes can be used for tablecloths and smaller pieces. This gives laundries greater flexibility when processing different types of flat linen.
Longitudinal and cross folding with photocells and compressed air
The folding system is one of the main features distinguishing Phoenix from the simpler Compact configurations. The SPE600-2600 provides 1–2 longitudinal folds and up to 3 cross folds in one-lane operation.
With two lanes, the machine provides 1–2 longitudinal folds and 1–2 cross folds. Folding is performed using photocells and compressed air according to the selected operating program.
For thicker linen, Fagor also offers an optional double air pressure system for the longitudinal folds, providing an additional configuration for more demanding textile applications.
Optional side stacking after folding
The SPE600-2600 can be equipped with an optional side stacker. Fagor offers two stacker configurations for the Phoenix range.
- Compact Roll-off Stacker: up to 5 tablecloths or 10 bedsheets.
- Stacker: up to 10–15 tablecloths or 10 bedsheets.
The number of items to be stacked can be programmed, and the stacker can be installed on either side of the machine according to the laundry layout. This allows the finishing process to continue automatically after folding rather than requiring manual stacking.
600 mm roll diameter and 2,600 mm working width
The SPE600-2600 features a 600 mm diameter roll with a 2,600 mm working width. Under Fagor's specified test conditions of 50% residual moisture, 140 g/m² cotton and 100% roll utilization, the machine provides a theoretical production of 75–105 kg/h.
The technical data specifies a working speed of 3–12 m/min. Digital touch-screen control allows programs to be created with adjustable speed and temperature settings.
The machine provides 20 programs, allowing operating parameters to be configured according to different linen types and production requirements.
Nomex-quality belts and polished steel roll
The SPE600-2600 uses Nomex-quality belts for feeding and ironing. The polished steel roll is equipped with a finger guard to support operator safety during linen feeding.
A frequency inverter is included to control machine operation. The powerful exhaust system supports the drying and ironing process, while the folding system requires a compressed air connection at 6.5 bar.
Electric, gas or steam heating
The SPE600-2600 is available with electric, gas or steam heating. This allows the machine configuration to be selected according to the available energy infrastructure and operating requirements of the laundry.
The electric version has 54 kW of heating power. The gas version provides 63.30 / 67.40 kW of heating power, while the steam version provides 55 kW.
Compact design for space-limited laundries
The key advantage of the Compact Flatwork Ironers range is the ability to integrate multiple finishing processes into a compact machine. Fagor's design allows linen to be fed and collected mainly from the front, helping reduce the space required around the machine.
The SPE600-2600 can also be configured with a rear exit and bypass when required by the laundry workflow. This provides additional flexibility when planning the machine layout.
Operational and maintenance support
Fagor also offers options such as remote service and a maintenance kit for ironers. These options are intended to support maintenance activities and technical assistance during long-term machine operation.
Who should choose the SPE600-2600?
The SPE600-2600 is suitable for industrial laundries requiring a theoretical production of 75–105 kg/h under Fagor's specified test conditions, while also requiring multiple flat linen finishing processes within one machine.
It is particularly suitable for businesses that:
- Need drying and ironing of flat linen in one machine.
- Require both longitudinal and cross folding after ironing.
- Process different types of flat linen such as bedsheets, tablecloths and small pieces.
- Need one- or two-lane operation depending on the linen being processed.
- Want to automate the stacking stage after folding.
- Have limited laundry space but still require a multifunctional flat linen finishing system.
When should you choose Phoenix, Poseidon or Polaris?
The right configuration should not be selected based on production capacity alone. The key consideration is the level of automation required for the finishing process.
- Choose Phoenix when you need drying, ironing, longitudinal folding, cross folding and optional stacking.
- Choose Poseidon when you need drying, ironing and longitudinal folding but do not require cross folding or stacking.
- Choose Polaris when your main requirement is drying and ironing flat linen without folding.
For businesses seeking a high level of flat linen finishing automation while keeping the installation footprint under control, the SPE600-2600 Phoenix configuration provides a comprehensive solution within Fagor's Compact Flatwork Ironers range.
